Wonderful Tunes Provided By Friends. Wild Tangents Provided By Me.

Ella Fitzgerald

“I Was Doing Alright” is a great Gershwin song. Tune by George and lyrics by Ira, it was penned in 1938 for the movie “The Goldwyn Follies”.  Here’s a lovely Ella Fitzgerald version.

Interesting two post trend in keeping with the Halloween season. I like to call it “what famous people did right before they died”. The movie in yesterday’s tweet starred an actress named Francoise Dorleac. She’s the red head in the duet above. Shortly after the filming of this movie she tragically perished in an auto accident on her way to the airport for the London premier of the movie. Today we have one of the last songs George Gershwin ever wrote before he died suddenly of a brain tumor. You see? Conspiracies are all around us if we just take the time to make them up!
