Wonderful Tunes Provided By Friends. Wild Tangents Provided By Me.

The Carpenters

At the risk of completely losing my membership in The Black People Club, I have to say I love the Carpenters. “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Close To You” are from their 1970 album “Close To You” and “Rainy Days And Mondays” is from the 1971 album “Carpenters”. Please enjoy!

In the olden days my family was Catholic. It all stopped eventually but not before my grandmother produced 6 healthy children who, together with all their friends, all came of age in the 70’s. As a result, I spent the entire decade in a flower girl dress. I think I learned “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Close To You” before I learned “Mary Had A Little Lamb.”

“Rainy Days And Mondays” is on my feeling blue MP3 mix along with “I’ll Say Goodbye To Love”. Toss in a lil’ Janis Ian’s “At Seventeen” and a good cry is imminent! There’s lots of other songs in my feeling blue mix guaranteed to support my mood until I’m ready to shut it off and switch to my cheer up song list.
