Wonderful Tunes Provided By Friends. Wild Tangents Provided By Me.

I don’t mind driving in the rain but I love a summer storm when I’m home. I love the sound of the rain hitting the roof and I love the drama of the thunder and lightning.** Someday I when I become rich and not the least bit famous, I’m going to keep a secluded log cabin just for storm watching. It’ll be stocked with nothing but cocoa, mulled cider, and lightning rods.

Windshield wipers were first patented the US in 1903 by Mary Anderson but they didn’t become standard equipment on cars until 1916. Here is a driving in the rain video complete with wipers. The wipers in this clip are a lot more quiet than mine and probably more quiet than Q’s too.

I rather like the sound of windshield wipers as long as they’re not squeaky. I guess that means Q and I don’t agree on that point. It makes me terribly worried that our beautiful relationship where I wander around thinking he’s dreamy and he goes about his life only vaguely aware that I exist might come to an end! Curse me and my love for the sound of auto safety equipment!

**Thunder and lightning not available in Southern California.
