Wonderful Tunes Provided By Friends. Wild Tangents Provided By Me.

Another cool Twitter jazz find o’ mine is Jazz Video Guy. Like the name suggests, he makes short films about legends of jazz. He recently finished uploading some videos about pianist Mulgrew Miller. Miller worked with greats like Art Blakey, Woody Shaw, and Tony Williams. He is currently Director of Jazz Studies at William Paterson University. It is one of the most respected jazz programs in the country. Here’s The Mulgrew Miller Trio performing “I Hear A Rhapsody.”

I have no idea when or where this concert took place but I would have loved to have been there live. Seems like the right sized crowd for an oddly reluctant single concert goer like me. I’d make a crude remark comparing my first concert experience with rupturing a small red fruit with a stone in the center but… y’know, keepin’ it PG13 and all.

  1. I have no intention of keeping it PG 13 down here. I was talking about popping my concert cherry. Of course, anyone who cares to read (and the odds that someone will are nearly astronomical) I wanted to say the naughty word for posterity.
