Wonderful Tunes Provided By Friends. Wild Tangents Provided By Me.

“Alabamy Bound” is tin pan alley tune written in 1924 by Ray Henderson with lyrics by Buddy DeSilva and Bud Green. Here’s a fun Les Paul and Mary Ford version. There are actually two songs on this video and one fun 1950’s Listerine commercial. I just love the “your husband would love you if only you weren’t so stinky!” message.

Interestingly enough (but probably only to me) the one and only time I ever took a long distance train trip was the last time I went to Minnesota. I love train travel but this time I’ll be driving in a rental car. It’s not as glamorous but it’ll get me there quickly and conveniently. It was also a lot cheaper thanks to  my Illinois Farm Bureau discount. I’ve decided not to explain what a woman who won’t even keep house plants is doing with a Farm Bureau membership. It’s not a long or complicated story. I just like to keep an air of mystery about myself.
