RIP George Shearing

He played with Stephane Grappelli in the early 40s and in 1947 he immigrated from his native England to the US. He formed his own quintet and released his first his record hit in 1949. Shearing’s talent earned him many honors throughout his long career and in 2007 he received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth. George passed away on February 14, he was 91. The clip is the George Shearing Quintet playing “I’ll Be Around.”
