Wonderful Tunes Provided By Friends. Wild Tangents Provided By Me.

Nat Adderly wrote “Work Song” in 1960 for his album “Work Song.” Oscar Brown Jr. added lyrics later that year when he covered the song for his album “Sin and Soul.” I couldn’t find any information on when Bobby Darin recorded the song but it was released on a couple of live albums in the early 2000’s. I don’t know what this clip is from but Bobby Darin had his own variety show from 1971 until his passing in 1973. I would guess this is from that show.

It’s May Day today which is also known as The Workers Holiday by communists and socialists the world over. I posted this song because I figured it would appeal to that crowd. I will be celebrating the day by sneaking into my daughter’s bedroom while she’s away and throwing away half  her worldly possessions. I’m sure her room would appeal to Anarchists who also celebrate May Day, but I’m going with Marx on this one and declaring a revolutionary redistribution of clutter!
