Nick Ashford died yesterday (8/22) after a battle with throat cancer. He was 70. Ashford was half of husband and wife singing/writing duo Ashford and Simpson. They were responsible for hits like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “I’m Every Woman.” They also wrote wrote and performed some of their own material like their 1984 hit “Solid.”
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Valerie Simpson and 2 daughters. RIP Mr. Ashford.
