This is a clip from the show “Hollywood Palace.” Peter Lawford was on the show three times but I’m guessing this was his 1969 appearance. His credits also list him as “singer” in 1966. I wonder what he sang then.
A You Tube commenter insisted that Lawford actually could sing. He claimed that it was just the “rock and roll” music that made him sound like my tone deaf, drunken uncle in the shower on Saturday night. Okay, then how do you explain this?
Jackie Cooper passed away on May 3, 2011. He was 88 years old. Mr. Cooper was 9 when he became the youngest actor ever to be nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actor category. He was also one of the rare actors to successfully make the transition from child star to adult actor. Jackie was also a talented director and producer and, apparently, he dabbled a bit in music too. He even released a single back in 1958. Here is a clip of Jackie playing drums on the Buick-Berle show. This episode originally aired in October of 1953. That’s Dagmar dancing and singing “Didn’t It Rain.”
Thank you sir for so many years of top quality entertainment. RIP Mr. Cooper.
