RIP Phoebe Snow

Phoebe Snow passed away on April 26 from complications resulting from a brain hemorrhage. She was 60. Phoebe was discovered in 1972 while she was playing at the Bitter End club. She released a self titled album 1974 which included her biggest hit “Poetry Man.” In 1975 she gave birth to a severely  disabled daughter named Valerie and she all but retired from show business to focus on caring for her child. Even during her semi retirement she made numerous public appearances and she recorded and played concerts with many prominent rock legends. She was also the familiar voice of several commercial jingles throughout the 80’s and 90’s. I owned all her albums in vinyl and later I replaced many of them with CDs. Her voice and her talent will be sorely missed. Here’s a live version of “Poetry Man” from 1989.

RIP Ms Snow.
